Postgraduate Student Agreement Programme (PEC-PG)

Opportunity Overview

The PEC-PG program offers scholarships for nationals of developing countries with which Brazil has educational agreements to pursue Master's or Doctorate degrees in Brazilian higher education institutions. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend (R$ 2,100 for Master's and R$ 3,100 for PhD), health insurance coverage, and tuition-free education at public universities.

R$2,100 for Master's (up to 24 months) and R$3,100 for PhD (up to 48 months), per the 2025 call.

R$400 Monthly Health Insurance

A R$400 monthly insurance allowance for the duration of the scholarship.

International Airfare

International airfare is funded by Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Postgraduate Study in Brazil

Master's or PhD in recognised Brazilian postgraduate programmes.

Eligibility & Acceptance Criteria

5 Criteria
Applicants must be nationals of a PEC-PG participating country (the 2025 call list included Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon and Syria).
Applicants must not hold Brazilian citizenship and must reside outside Brazil in an eligible country.
A completed bachelor's degree (and a Master's for PhD applicants) and no prior doctorate.
A current Lattes CV and an ORCID identifier are required.
A two-year gap is required after any previous study or scholarship in Brazil.
