Opportunity Overview
French embassies award French Government (BGF) scholarships for master's and PhD study in France, with a €900 or €1,850 monthly allowance and fee exemption. Funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and also branded France Excellence, the scholarships are offered through country-specific calls run by the cultural service of each French embassy or Institut français, according to bilateral cooperation priorities: examples include the Rifaa Al-Tahtawi master's programme in Egypt via the Institut français d'Égypte and embassy programmes in Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan and many African countries. Campus France manages the scholarship in France. The monthly allowance follows an official French government rate grid: €900 for bachelor's and master's students and €1,850 for doctoral students for applications made since 2023, although some national programmes set their own rates, such as €860 in Egypt's Tahtawi programme. Scholars are exempt from enrolment fees for national and engineering degrees at public institutions and from the student life contribution (CVEC), join French social security free of charge with temporary insurance on arrival, can request a CROUS university residence in most cases, and may have their airfare booked when the embassy funds it. Other formats include social security scholarships, which give the same exemptions without a monthly allowance, and cotutelle PhD grants with stays in France. Rules and dates differ by country; most calls open between November and March for study starting the following September, and applicants usually need admission or a planned admission at a French institution and a suitable level of French or English for the programme.

ChinaChinese Government Scholarship (CSC) 2027–2028
A fully funded scholarship from the Chinese government, administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), for bachelor's, master's and PhD study at Chinese universities. It covers tuition, campus accommodation, a monthly stipend and comprehensive medical insurance. There are two routes: the bilateral route (Type A) through the Chinese embassy or the designated agency in your country (often the Ministry of Higher Education), or directly through designated Chinese universities (Type B). Bachelor's applicants now need a CSCA test score. The portal usually opens in November–December 2026; deadlines are set by each embassy or university and typically fall between late November 2026 and April 2027 (bilateral or embassy routes are often earliest). Bachelor's applicants must sit the CSCA test (December or January sessions) before applying. International airfare is not covered.
