Opportunity Overview

Qatar Foundation financial aid for undergraduates of every nationality at Education City universities in Doha; funding is requested with the admission application between November and February depending on the university. Education City hosts branch campuses of Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, Texas A&M, Weill Cornell Medicine and VCUarts, plus HBKU, with fees of about US$67,000–75,000 a year. Qatar Foundation says admissions are need-blind and describes its need-based aid as an interest-free loan that can be repaid by working for one of hundreds of approved organisations in Qatar after graduation, while Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar describes QF need-based grants that do not have to be repaid and can reach the full cost of attendance — so read the aid agreement carefully. QF also awards a competitive QF Scholarship to high-achieving students after two semesters in Education City. Students apply through the QF Financial Aid System (fas.qf.org.qa) with a US$50 fee and family income documents. Deadlines differ by university: for example, 17 November for Early Decision and 1 February (priority) for Regular Decision at CMU-Q, which notes that international applicants living outside Qatar cannot receive aid in the binding Early Decision round.

Bachelor, Master, PhD, Other

Stars of Science is Qatar Foundation's programme that takes the innovations of young Arabs aged 18 to 35 to market; the next season has not been announced. Seven finalists go through four phases from concept pitch to market validation, and the result is decided by a public vote and a jury; travel to Doha is covered. The FAQ lists total prizes of US$400,000 (US$300,000 for first place and US$100,000 for second), while press coverage described the Season 18 prize as a fully supported venture-building experience in Qatar. Season 18 applications closed on 10 July 2026, and dates for the next season have not been published.
