Opportunity Overview

Doha Film Institute grants support first- and second-time directors from the Arab world and beyond; dates for the Spring 2027 cycle have not been announced yet. Grants are awarded twice a year (spring and fall) for narrative, documentary and experimental features and shorts, and for series. For features, first- and second-time MENA directors can receive development, production and post-production support, established MENA directors post-production support, and first- and second-time non-MENA directors post-production support only. TV series (development) and web series (production) grants are reserved for MENA filmmakers. The Spring 2026 cycle supported 48 projects from 39 countries. The Fall 2026 cycle closed on 2 July 2026, and the previous spring window was short (22 December to 5 January), so prepare your file early. DFI does not publish grant caps; winners sign a grant agreement setting the amount. Applications are accepted only through the online form while a cycle is open; emailed applications are not considered.
