Opportunity Overview
A funded one- to two-year research stay at A*STAR institutes in Singapore for PhD students enrolled at universities outside Singapore, with a monthly stipend and housing allowance. The next nomination deadline is 1 December 2026. Under ARAP, the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) hosts PhD students for part of their research under joint supervision by their home university and an A*STAR scientist, in the biomedical and physical sciences, engineering and infocomm. Support includes a monthly stipend, a monthly housing allowance, a one-time IT allowance, an airfare grant, a settling-in allowance, visa costs, medical insurance and a conference allowance; tuition at your home university is not covered. You need at least a Second Class (Upper) Honours bachelor's or equivalent and a good research record, and no English test is required. Students do not apply alone: the A*STAR supervisor and the home university nominate jointly, with deadlines on 1 June and 1 December each year, and attachments can start about 6 months after the award. First find a supervisor at an A*STAR institute, or ask your university office if it is a partner.
