How to spot a fake job
- Anyone asking you to pay a registration or training fee, or to buy equipment before you start, is almost always a scam.
- Do not send your passport or bank card details before signing a clear contract with a company you can verify.
- Be wary of contact only through Telegram or WhatsApp, and of offers promising high pay for very simple work.
- Look up the company’s website and LinkedIn page, and check the email comes from the company’s own domain.
- Never accept a cheque or transfer and send part of it back: it is one of the most common scams.
How to get paid from abroad
Most companies pay in dollars or euros by bank transfer or a payment platform. Common options for Arab users:
- Payoneer
- Receive USD, EUR and GBP, then withdraw to your local bank account. Available in most Arab countries.
- Wise
- Multi-currency accounts with transparent exchange rates. Receiving money is available in several Arab countries; opening rules vary by country.
- International bank transfer (SWIFT)
- Straight to your bank account in foreign currency; ask your bank about incoming fees and a USD account.
- Employer platforms (Deel, Remote and others)
- Some companies hire through a platform that pays you monthly by the method you choose.
Check the tax and transfer rules in your country; they differ from one country to another.
