Opportunity Overview

Keio University's "Design the Future" Award supports outstanding international students entering its master's, doctoral and professional degree programmes from abroad. It covers full tuition and fees, pays ¥200,000 a month and gives a one-time ¥150,000 relocation grant, for up to 2 years (master's) or 3 years (doctoral or professional). Candidates are nominated by their graduate school and interviewed; each school sets its own application window. For April 2027, September 2027 or April 2028 entry, several schools have already closed, while Science and Technology accepts applications until 16 October 2026; interviews are held on 12 December 2026.

Eligibility & Acceptance Criteria

3 Criteria
International applicant with 15 or more years of schooling outside Japan; holders of a bachelor's degree from a Japanese university are not eligible.
Nominated by a Keio graduate school, with an outstanding academic record; cannot hold other public research funding at the same time.
Apply within your graduate school's window; some schools require JLPT N1 or EJU results or a professor's recommendation.

University of Newcastle International Excellence Scholarship 2027

The University of Newcastle (Australia) awards the International Excellence Scholarship automatically to international full-fee-paying students admitted to an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme in 2027. It covers 20% of tuition fees each year for the whole programme, and about 500 scholarships are offered.
