Opportunity Overview

Courses funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and run by Polish universities accredited to teach Polish to foreigners, lasting 1–4 weeks on site (mostly in July and August) or 1–12 weeks online. They include Polish lessons at all levels, beginners included, lectures and workshops on Polish culture, history and everyday life, trips to top tourist sights, and meetings with students, academics and business people. The courses and all their activities, plus accommodation and meals for on-site courses, are completely free; participants pay only their travel to and from Poland and compulsory medical insurance. The summer courses are for foreign students and academic teachers of foreign universities (or dual citizens whose first language is not Polish) who do not study, work or live in Poland, with at least B1 in Polish or English for organisational matters. Free adaptation courses also exist for people planning to study in Poland. NAWA will announce the 2027 dates and host universities in early December 2026; applications then open in 2027, usually in early February, through the application form of your chosen university (you may add a second and third choice). One person may attend only one on-site course a year, and a recommendation from an academic teacher is advised.
