MOFA Taiwan Scholarship 2027 for Diplomatic Allies: NT$33,000 a Month and Air Tickets

Bachelor, Master, PhD

A scholarship from Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for citizens of countries with diplomatic relations with Taiwan, or countries MOFA recognises as friendly, to study a bachelor's (4 years), master's (2 years) or PhD (4 years) at a Taiwanese university, optionally after a pre-degree Mandarin year. MOFA pays a monthly allowance of NT$28,000 during the language year and NT$33,000 during the degree, plus one-way economy tickets to Taiwan and back home, and no other subsidies, so tuition and other costs are paid by the student. The award starts on 1 August of the first year, must be continuous and cannot exceed five years, and the language year must be completed within the first year. Taiwan's 12 diplomatic allies are Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Marshall Islands, Palau, Tuvalu, Eswatini and the Holy See. Apply through the Taiwan embassy in your country while applying separately for university admission. The 2027 dates have not been announced and are set by each embassy. Programmes not fully taught in English require TOCFL Level 3 or above, and you cannot hold two Taiwan government scholarships.
