Opportunity Overview

The University of Hong Kong (11th in the QS World University Rankings 2026) awards merit-based entrance scholarships to non-local students applying for a bachelor’s degree with international qualifications (national secondary diplomas, IB, A-levels or SAT/AP). All applicants are considered automatically with no separate application, and awards are announced with the offer. Top students receive up to a full tuition waiver (HK$250,000–280,000 a year in 2027–28, HK$590,000 for medicine and dentistry) plus an accommodation scholarship and a yearly living allowance, and some awards are renewable for the whole programme. There are also scholarships for specific nationalities and faculties (searchable with the “Find My Scholarships” tool on HKU’s site), including the Belt and Road Scholarship. Applications open on 23 September 2026; those received by 25 November 2026 (noon HKT) are assessed first, and applications then stay open on a rolling basis until 25 August 2027, but scholarship chances are best in the first round. The application fee is HK$780.
