Eligibility & Admission Criteria
- Non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport.
- Age limits in the 2026 call: master's applicants born on or after 1 January 1996, PhD applicants on or after 1 January 1991 (limits move each year – check the new call).
- Proficiency in English or Chinese and meeting the international-student admission requirements of UCAS or USTC.
- Not currently enrolled in a master's (for the master's award) or PhD (for the PhD award) in China; apply to only one of UCAS or USTC and hold no other job during the scholarship.
- Up to 40 PhD places (ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO track) are reserved for applicants from developing countries, with priority for least developed countries and women.
